Happiness both entices and eludes us. Think of it like A Course in Miracles Cake, with layers of warm love, creamy gratitude and satisfying forgiveness, topped with a fluffy swirl of mind-blowing happiness icing. We wish we could eat that cake every day, but we don’t…..or we can’t. Just entertain the idea for a minute of how amazing it would be to eat cake every day. And if you ate it every day, then you would have to have it for breakfast sometimes; you would have to, right?
Part Two of the Workbook for Students is delivering a style of lessons that I have been waiting a year for. It is like eating cake every day now, soul filling, delicious and satisfying. Yes, I said an entire year which translate into 220 lessons! The shift is a result of the lessons becoming more “digestible” as they present themselves in ready-to-eat single servings. I will stop with the cake references now, I promise.
Thank you Julie, super partner and blogger extraordinaire for our weekly study sessions. As I have mentioned before, I would not have reached this far in my studies without you! And I am so grateful that we have stuck with it.
Here is an exert from the workbook that inspired this post:
2. What is Salvation
….when the mind is split there is a need of healing. So the Thought that has the power to heal the split became a part of every fragment of the mind that still was one, but failed to recognize its oneness. Now it did not know itself, and thought its own identity was lost.
Only love is real. What is real? Well The Course states in the introduction: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.
Happiness (living in a state of love) and the ego mind are always jockeying for position. Who gets to lead today? What will your perspective be as you enter into your day and all the situations, conversations and environments that await you?
Our thoughts split and fragment easily. The Course trains the mind to keep you from forgetting that only love is real. Through its repetition, It provides a solid foundation for stepping back from the dark side. In those moments when the happiness begins to melt away and the frustration rises up within you, it reminds you that the only thing lacking in this situation is what you are not bringing to it. Healing is directly connected to our ability to release what no longer serves us and not to harbour feelings of fear, anger and judgement in our bodies and ego mind. As The Course says: Now it did not know itself, and thought its own identity was lost. When we disconnect from our love, we forget who we really are.
Here are a few questions I ask/tell myself on a pretty regular basis since becoming a student of The Course:
What is the loving thing to do here?
How can I forgive this person?
What am I grateful for in this situation?
[This person] is in their ego mind and I should
graciously walk away from this conversation.
What am I not bringing to this situation?
My perspective creates my reality.
I am grateful for so many things I won’t begin to list them all. But I will take this opportunity to say I am so very grateful for The Course and for your presence in the journey.
I like the idea that this blog attracts both students of The Course and potential students; people wondering if it offers what they seek. It isn’t for everyone, but it is an amazing journey to love which is not attached to any organized religion. I have other posts exploring ways to see past the verbage if you are interested. Please read through some of the early posts that we wrote as we began our journey into love.
